{"id":13898,"date":"2025-06-27T07:55:50","date_gmt":"2025-06-27T07:55:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/freedomforabdullahocalan.org\/en\/?p=13898"},"modified":"2025-06-27T07:55:52","modified_gmt":"2025-06-27T07:55:52","slug":"freedom-for-ocalan-vigil-in-strasbourg-enters-its-14th-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/freedomocalansyria.com\/en\/?p=13898","title":{"rendered":"Freedom for \u00d6calan Vigil in Strasbourg enters its 14th year"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Freedom for \u00d6calan Vigil, which has been ongoing since 2012, demanding an end to the isolation system on \u0130mral\u0131 Island and the physical freedom of Abdullah \u00d6calan, continues in its 680th week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/anfenglishmobile.com\/uploads\/en\/articles\/2025\/06\/20250626-20250625-whatsapp-image-2025-06-25-at-14-08-40-jpeg8955a8-image-jpg3d504e-image.jpg?w=1170&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:439px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Freedom for \u00d6calan Vigil, which was launched in Strasbourg on June 25, 2012, with the aim of achieving the physical freedom of Kurdish People&#8217;s Leader Abdullah \u00d6calan and ending the \u0130mral\u0131 torture system, continues with determination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vigil is held in Strasbourg, where institutions like the Council of Europe, the CPT (Committee for the Prevention of Torture), and the European Court of Human Rights and the European Parliament are located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The action, which is carried out every week in front of the Council of Europe by groups of Kurds living in Europe and their friends, has entered its&nbsp;14th year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vigil also aims to promote Abdullah \u00d6calan&#8217;s ideas, raise awareness of the Kurdish people&#8217;s struggle, and build public pressure on international institutions to take responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Z\u00fclf\u00fc Bing\u00f6l, one of the organizers of the round-the-clock vigil for the past eight years, stated that the action will continue with the same determination, saying, \u201cThe freedom of Leader \u00d6calan is our main goal. Leader \u00d6calan is the will of the Kurdish people. Without the liberation of his will, the liberation of the Kurdish people is not possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The action, now in its 680th week, was taken over this week by members of the Democratic Kurdish Community Center in Bern, Switzerland.
