Welcoming the greetings \u00d6calan sent to them, the Syrian Patriotic Students\u2019 Union and the Student Council said, \u201cWe promise to act in accordance with the new paradigm.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following Abdullah \u00d6calan’s February 27 “Call for Peace and Democratic Society”, a panel discussion was organized at Koban\u00ea University on May 31. The panel was also attended online by \u00d6mer \u00d6calan, a member of parliament for the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) in Urfa province and a nephew of the Kurdish leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the panel discussion, university academics, lecturers, students, and staff conveyed their greetings to Abdullah \u00d6calan. DEM Party MP \u00d6mer \u00d6calan conveyed these greetings to his uncle during a family visit held at Imral\u0131 on the occasion of Eid al-Adha on June 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the meeting, \u00d6mer \u00d6calan stated, \u201cMr. \u00d6calan sent his special greetings to the teachers, academics, students, and all staff of Koban\u00ea University.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accompanied by faculty members, the Syrian Patriotic Students\u2019 Union and the Student Council issued a statement regarding \u00d6calan\u2019s message to Koban\u00ea University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student Arif Ebdo read a statement on behalf of Kobane University students, saying the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“After conveying the greetings of Koban\u00ea University to Leader Abdullah \u00d6calan, \u00d6mer \u00d6calan wrote a letter to the academics and students at Koban\u00ea University, saying, \u2018Mr. Abdullah \u00d6calan has placed great value and importance on the work of universities in Rojava. He has viewed universities as the foundation and pillar of the construction of the ideas of freedom, equality, and democracy. Against capitalist modernity and bureaucratic and academic repetition, he has assigned a new and modern mission to universities regarding their existence, freedom of thought, and intellectual creation. Based on the concepts and approaches of the new paradigm and perspective, he expressed excitement and pride in the existence of Koban\u00ea University and extended his best wishes for success to the university and its students in their efforts.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As students of Koban\u00ea University, we are proud of Leader \u00d6calan’s ideas and philosophy. We are excited about the letter we received from Leader \u00d6calan. We pledge to embrace his letter and act in accordance with the new paradigm. We will do everything in our power for Leader Abdullah \u00d6calan and our community. Additionally, we have the opportunity to live out Leader Abdullah \u00d6calan’s philosophy and move toward freedom guided by that philosophy.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
